Dear All,
As you know, the British Open was scheduled to take place at the Kingsland course in Shrewsbury. Unfortunately, tournament director Nige Williams has not been in the best of health, and has been advised by his doctor to take things easy. A fully fit Nige would have put on a great show, so it's a disappointment to us all that he can't go ahead this year. Nobody is more disappointed than Nige himself. We wish him a full and speedy recovery, and perhaps the preparatory work can be resurrected for next year.
The show must go on, in this the the 30th year of the British Open, and I'm delighted to say that 2008 British Open will be held at Quarry Park on May 31 - June 1. It will be part of the PDGA Eurotour. We are working hard on putting details together for registration, sponsorship, accommodation etc, and these will be posted to the website in the near future.

We have some ground to catch up, but people are already stepping up. Duncan Hartshorne has offered to be non-playing TD; Jesse and Louise Denny have already swung into action, designing tee signs, and looking for sponsors and accommodation. In the last year a lot of work has gone into maintaining and improving the course, and this will be accelerated. By the time of the Open all tees, short and long, will be level and have artificial turf; baskets will be fitted with high visibility yellow bands; and tee signs will be installed. I am confident that we will be able to put on a great tournament, and I hope many of you will be there to experience it.
